Filter sock is a type of contained compost filter berm. Filter sock is typically a mesh tube filled with composted material that is placed perpendicular to the direction of sheet flow to control erosion and retain sediment in disturbed areas. A compost filter sock has an oval or round cross-section and provides a three dimensional filter to retain sediment and other pollutants.
Filter sock can replace a traditional erosion and sediment control practice, such as a silt fence or straw bale barrier, and is often more effective.
ECD Installation
JPH installs over 75 miles of compost filter sock a year. With their state of the art Express Blower and Peterson Blower trucks they are able to install filter sock up to 1,000 feet away from the truck. These trucks also have the ability to deliver stone, soil mixes, compost, and mulch to distances up to and over 1,000 feet.
JPH takes great pride in knowing that the filter sock that they place is keeping contaminants and sediment out of the local waterways that lead to the precious Chesapeake Bay.
